  • What is Highway to Health (HTH)?
Highway to Health, Inc. (HTH) applies its dynamic internet expertise to bring innovative online healthcare services and insurance to international travel, study and commerce. Each year thousands of leisure and business travelers as well as international students and scholars protect themselves, their families and their travel plans with HTHSM. Our programs combine comprehensive, competitively priced insurance products with critical travel health information, known as CityHealthProfilesSM, and online medical assistance services available through HTH TravelersClub. Members enjoy access to our community of pre-selected, contracted physicians in over 100 countries, and our interactive translation guides for brand name pharmaceuticals and common medical terms and phrases. Through a partnership with CNA Financial Services, HTH offers trip cancellation and interruption insurance, supplementary health and accident coverage for leisure and business travelers, and primary health insurance for internaitonal students and their families. (click here to see details of HTH plans.)

    What is the HTH TravelersClub?
The TravelersClub is the first travel club focused on health and safety. If you've ever tried to find a cardiologist in Oxford, communicate with a physician or nurse in Portugal, or locate a medication you trust in Sao Paolo, you know that maintaining your health when you travel can be difficult. As an HTH TravelersClub member, you have access to HTH's network of pre-selected doctors and online appointment scheduling system. You have access translation guides that help you find the medication you need and communicate your medical history and needs, wherever you go. And through a unique partnership with Wellmed, you can even create and store a personal online medical record, accessible from any web browser.

Remember, all TravelGap purchasers are automatically enrolled in the HTH TravelersClub and have access to all its benefits!

Why should I purchase a travel insurance policy before my next trip?
Your health and vacation investment are at risk when you travel. The cost of your cruise or trip may not be refunded to you in the event of personal or family sickness. Your primary health plan may not pay for you to see a doctor or be admitted to a hospital away from home. Your plan is unlikely to pay for you to be evacuated to a top quality medical facility—which can cost up to US$50,000! HTH's TravelGapSM products fill in the gap in your health plan by providing premium coverage (up to US$100,000) for eligible medical expenses incurred while traveling, as well as medical evacuation coverage.

TravelGap plans include 24 hours a day, 7 days a week global medical assistance, provided by Worldwide Assistance Services, a Europe Assistance Company. A leader in the assistance industry, Worldwide Assistance has alarm centers in 33 countries and agents in 208 countries. All purchasers are automatically enrolled in the HTH TravelersClub, receive online and toll-free telephone access to all TravelersClub services and other valuable benefits. TripProtector and TravelGap are marketed and administered exclusively by Highway to Health's wholly owned subsidiary, HTH Worldwide Insurance Services, Inc.

What is HTH Worldwide Insurance Services?
HTH worldwide Insurance Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Highway to Health, responsible for marketing, administering and providing customer service for HTH's insurance products.

    What is Worldwide Assistance Services?

WAS provides assistance to TripProtector and TravelGap customers who have a medical or other emergency during travel. Worldwide Assistance has emergency alarm centers located in more than thirty countries around the world. A subsidiary of Europ Assistance, SA, Worldwide Assistance is based in Washington, DC.

What travel-health information is available to highwaytohealth.com visitors?
CityHealthProfilesSM provide critical, destination specific information about healthcare around the world. Does 911 work in France (no! dial 15 for an ambulance)? What are the notable hospitals in Tokyo? What vaccinations do I need before my trip to Mali?

Travel Resources portion of the site offers travel-health columns with a unique point-of-view, the most relevant travel-health news and links to government web sites that offer travel health and safety information.

TravelersClub members have access to an even greater array of travel-health resources.

Will the TravelGap Voyager plan cover me inside the U.S.?
No. The TravelGap Excursion and Voyager plans both are designed to cover a member anywhere outside the continental U.S. However, coverage is afforded to members visiting U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico or Guam.

Do I file claims with my primary insurance first?
TravelGap plans are secondary insurance. However, HTH will process and pay claims as a primary payor and reserves the right, where applicable, to contact your primary insurance company to coordinate benefits.

I am leaving before my policy materials arrive in the mail. How will I receive the information I need in time?
Upon a successful purchase, you will receive an email confirmation which contains all your necessary policy information and important contact information for emergencies. Once enrolled, members can instantly log in to the Member Services area of HTH's website and download an electronic ID card and other policy documents.

Can I purchase this plan on line?
    YES. Click here to purchase

Is there a website where I can get doctor and prescription/medication information?
YES! www.hthworldwide.com You will be able to access information on doctors/medications in any country.

Will HTH provide medical payments directly to the doctor or hospital?

HTH can not guarantee the medical payment to the provider. You will pay all the costs up front and get reimbursed when your claim is settled.

What is considered a "Common Carrier"?
"Common Carrier" means any land, air or water conveyance operated under a license for the transportation of passengers for hire, not including taxi cabs or rented, leased or privately owned motor vehicles.

Are acts of terrorism covered under these plans?

Yes. The TravelGap plans do not exclude illnesses or injuries related to terrorism or a terrorist act. In order to be covered in countries where there are open hostilities, such as Iraq and Afghanistan, a member must not be engaged in hostile or combative activities.

I already left on my trip. Can I buy a TravelGap plan when I am outside the U.S.?
No. TravelGap plans have been approved to be sold to customers purchasing from inside the U.S.

How far in advance do you need to purchase a TravelGap plan?
A TravelGap plan may be purchased up to one day before your departure date. HTH recommends that customers wishing to receive a hard copy ID card should allow 2 weeks prior to their effective date when purchasing
