MIDDLE EAST
Israel,
the West Bank and Gaza, May 10, 2000 -- There is an increased possibility
of terrorist attacks in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. Although there
is no specific threat against Americans directly, the U.S. Embassy in
Tel Aviv and the Consulate General in Jerusalem do urge Americans to increase
their vigilance with respect to their security. American citizens in Israel
should be alert to their surroundings, and report suspicious packages
or any unusual activities to the police. Be cautious when using public
transportation and in the vicinity of bus stops and crowded areas. For
additional security advice, as well as for further general information
on travel to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, consult the U.S. State Department's
latest Consular Information Sheet for
Israel and the Occupied Territories.
